Thanks to a $14K grant from North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, cooperation from numerous land managers, and the hard work of volunteers, TAMBA is in the midst of a much-needed project to sign trails from the West Shore to the Kings Beach area. The signs will be predominantly on US Forest Service trails and roads that the Tahoe Rim Trail Association does not sign. Volunteers (Sue Hughes, Scott Brown, Jeremy Benson, and Bob Christensen) installed the first signs in the vicinity of the Fiberboard Rd./FR 73 in the fall of 2018. More signs and kiosks were installed by the end of 2019, signing trails such as Stanford Rock Trail and trails in the Tahoe City area.
Signs will be placed in the Page Meadows area and a large map will be installed in the kiosk at Tahoe XC in the fall of 2020. The last set of signs will be installed in the summer of 2021. The grant also provides funds for the creation of trail maps for the West Shore and North Shore. These maps will be created in the fall of 2020 and spring of 2021 for distribution by local businesses and organizations.
