Getting involved off the trail

Are you passionate about mountain biking and eager to contribute your skills to the vibrant outdoor community? Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our volunteer leadership committees and Board of Directors. By becoming a volunteer committee participant or Board Member, you’ll have the opportunity to actively shape the future of mountain biking in the greater Lake Tahoe Basin.

Board and Leadership Committee Application

Leadership Committees 

TAMBA has defined six committees rooted in the functional areas of our organization in order to facilitate deeper discussions and focus outside of formal board meetings. These committees serve as collaborative spaces where dedicated volunteers come together to drive initiatives, share expertise, and implement strategies that enhance TAMBA’s impact. Each committee meets monthly and touch on all aspects of the organization, allowing volunteers to align their skills and interests with TAMBA’s needs. Time investment for committee members is flexible to your availability and interests.  

Each Committee and its respective focus is outlined below: 

Media Team 

  • Photo and video event and trail coverage 
  • Creation of short form video content 
  • Other media coverage, talk to us about opportunities and ideas!

Trail Ops

  • Trail Building & Maintenance project planning
  • Strengthening partnerships 
  • Supports volunteer and paid trail crew efforts
  • Collaboration with trail improvements, alignments and features

Marketing and Communications

  • Content creation and channel management 
  • Advocacy & Education
  • Individual campaigns 

Finance

  • Budget

Board of Directors 

TAMBA’s Board of Directors is currently considered to be a “Working Board” contributing to both the governance and operational aspects of the organization. This position is pivotal in ensuring TAMBA’s short and long-term sustainability by actively participating in the implementation of foundational policies, practices, and tools essential to the organization’s maturity. Board Members are expected to engage in traditional governance and oversight while also taking a hands-on approach to support the execution of key initiatives as the organization. 

Board Members are expected to commit to monthly 2-hour board meetings, strategic planning sessions, and other relevant events. The time commitment may vary but is estimated at approximately 10-15 hours per month. Board Members will undergo an application and interview process prior to being formally voted on as a member.
