2025 Ride Update

This year’s ride will feature an updated route, which has been approved to allow 1-day access for bikes on the Tahoe Rim Trail to avoid the Spooner Lake State Park backcountry trail closures. Check out the maps below for details about the updated route and note that bikes will only be permitted on the Tahoe Rim Trail from Laxalt Junction to Spooner Lake State Park for the day of the event (Sunday, September 7, 2025).

TAMBA extends our heartfelt thanks to our partners at the US Forest Service, Nevada State Parks, and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for their support in ensuring this iconic event could go ahead again this year.

Proudly brought to you by TAMBA, in conjunction with the US Forest Service and Nevada State Parks.

A US Forest Service Special Use Permit was first issued for this ride in 2015, allowing the first ever legally-permitted Rose to Toads event. Since then, Rose to Toads has raised around $20,000 annually for trail maintenance and building, meaning your registration dollars go right back into the trails you love.

From humble beginnings with a handful of people to 200 participants and a full-on party scene at the rest stops in recent years, this event has come a long way. The unlimited bragging rights riders earn for finishing this beast are legit!

About the Ride

Over 62 miles in length with 9,000+ feet of climbing and 11,000+ feet of descent, this is the most amazing (and tough) mountain bike ride. What started off as a hair-brained idea with a few friends many years ago, before TAMBA’s rebirth, is now one of our signature events that attracts crazy people from all over the country. It takes most people all day to complete the ride and showcases some of the best trails linking Lake Tahoe’s North Shore from Mount Rose down to the South Shore, ending on the famous Mr. Toads Wild Ride. This is not a race but the ride can be as intense as you want it to be. Join us and be part of something awesome!

There will be four rest stops along the route, as well as a finish line celebration. Rest stops will be located at:

  1. Spooner summit (mile 22), sponsored by the Tahoe Rim Trail Association
  2. Kingsbury Grade – Buchanan Road (mile 37), sponsored by Shoreline Tahoe
  3. Mott Canyon (mile 43), sponsored by Heavenly Ski Patrol
  4. Armstrong Pass (mile 53) with very limited supplies

Registered riders will get access to all the rest stops along the route, entry to the finish line celebration, and an exclusive Rose to Toads goody bag. All proceeds from registration sales go directly towards supporting TAMBA’s work.

DISCLAIMER: This ride is self-supported.  There is no sweep or sag and you need to be prepared for anything.
