Lower Tyrolian reroute

Project Status: In progress 90% Complete

This reroute has largely been built by our pro trail crew. They spent several months performing extensive rockwork, and cutting in tread. It is awaiting a final bridge installation, and upper and lower trail connections that should be finished early spring 2024. Once it’s open be prepared for a rocky descent, keep a lookout for the feature the crew has nicknamed “The Dragon”…

Project Overview:

  • Distance: .56mi, 319ft elevation
  • Location: East Shore, Incline Village.
  • Key Connections: reroutes Tyrolian Downhill away from residential neighborhoods.
  • Project Donors: USFS- Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
  • Crew Leaders: Aaron “Elko” James

About this Project:

TAMBA has partnered with the USFS- Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit to re-route the bottom 0.75 miles of the Tyrolian Trail away from the residential neighborhood and over to the east side of Incline Creek. This will help reduce user conflicts and improve the user experience by having a more exciting and technical finish to the trail, which currently just runs parallel to the road for the last 1/2 mile. The reroute is near completion but we are waiting on Bridge materials and then will connect to the new technical trail.

The TAMBA professional trail crew has been hard at work this summer doing technical rock work and rigging. Once the TAMBA pro trail crew finishes building the bridge, TAMBA will run volunteer build days on Tyrolian to complete the reroute.
