This reroute was largely built by our pro trail crew. They spent several months performing extensive rockwork and cutting in the tread. The bridge installation was executed in partnership with the USFS. The upper and lower trail connections were finished in early August 2024. This reroute has a rocky descent, keep a lookout for the feature the crew has nicknamed “The Dragon”. This Reroute more closely matches the character of the Tyrolian Downhill and will decrease traffic in a residential neighborhood.

About this Project:
TAMBA partnered with the USFS- Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit to re-route the bottom 0.75 miles of the Tyrolian Trail away from the residential neighborhood and over to the east side of Incline Creek. This will help reduce user conflicts and improve the user experience by having a more exciting and technical finish to the trail, which currently runs parallel to the road for the last 1/2 mile.
The TAMBA professional trail crew, volunteers, and staff were hard at work this summer doing technical rock work and rigging to complete this reroute.
