Introduction to Rockwork: Griphoist, rigging and rockwork training
July 2, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us Tuesday July 2nd for a introduction to rockwork training. We will be going over the basics of dry stone masonry. Teaching attendees how to safely use a griphoist, rock bars, and going over the basics of rockwork trail construction (simple rock walls + armoring). Dry stone masonry is the technique used on all of TAMBA’s trails to build wall, armoring, steps or any other sort of rock feature. It is called dry stone, because there is no motor used to hold the rocks together, just building techniques.
TAMBA also does all rockwork by hand, and uses various techniques to move large slabs of granite. In this glass we will focus on the basic concepts of griphoist and rigging work, and how to safely use a griphoist to move large boulders to build with. We will also touch on the some of the foundations of how to build rock features, and use rock bars safely and properly.
We will be working right out of the parking lot at Diamond Peak Ski Resort, where we will building the new exit of Lower Tyrolian Downhill trial. Meet at the upper diamond peak parking lot at 9am.
