GivingTuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of generosity that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

This #GivingTuesday, we announced TAMBA’s 2023 December Giving Drive.

As we prepare for winter while still trying to get the last of the good dirt, TAMBA appreciates your support in our final push for fundraising in 2023. Contributions made to TAMBA this month will help us accelerate our trail building efforts throughout the basin and bag you some exclusive TAMBA swag!

Our 2023 achievements

Even with a late start to summer, our organization accomplished an amazing amount of work this year for mountain biking in the Lake Tahoe Basin:

Trail Building:

  • Built 10 miles of new trail
  • Maintained over 100 miles across 30 trails
  • Cleared over 100 down trees
  • Built 770 square feet of rock wall
  • Brushed and widened over 10 miles of trail
  • Facilitated over 15,250 hours of trail work from our volunteers and paid crew

Community:

  • Delivered more than 10 events reaching thousands of people with key partners around the basin and represented TAMBA at 10 others
  • Hosted 246 volunteer days with 477 volunteers, including over 300 youth hours

Advocacy and Education:

  • Spent over 200 hours analyzing and providing feedback on the Basin Wide Trails Analysis, advocating for 50 miles of new multi-use trail with optimal alignments for mountain biking and connectivity
  • Interacted with community members and educated on trail etiquette across TAMBA’s communication channels

What’s in store for 2024?

TAMBA is already deep into planning for 2024, and this is where we need your support. Some of our future projects that your contributions will help achieve are:

  • Continuing projects like Tunnel Creek singletrack (providing an alternative to three miles of fire road), Route 73 Bypass in Tahoe City, and Meeks Ridge Trail on the west shore
  • Planning and building new trails like Blackwood Canyon Connector, Panorama Trail (providing increased mountain bike access in the Heavenly area), and Lower Corral Trail upgrades and uphill singletrack
  • Installing the Lower Tyrolian Bridge and opening the Lower Tyrolian Reroute
  • Trailhead kiosk improvements and signage additions
  • Working with partners on ways to increase the fire resilience of our trails
  • Advancing further initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion on Tahoe trails
  • Advocating and planning for the adoption of the Basin Wide Trails Analysis Plan
  • Continuing to deliver world-class mountain biking events
