Every month, we’ll be highlighting a TAMBA Trail Legend – a volunteer, donor, or community partner who’s gone above and beyond to support TAMBA’s work. None of the awesome things we achieve would be possible without the Trail Legends who work with us.
This month, we’re celebrating highly respected Crew Leader, trail builder and athlete, Helene Drumm.
TAMBA volunteer Crew Leader Helene Drumm is a regular fixture at TAMBA volunteer days; in fact, she’s logged over 100 trail volunteer days with TAMBA alone. Helene loves to give back to the trails she gets so much from. She loves the great functional workout of trail building, the creativity of building fun trails, and the great community and camaraderie of the local trail volunteer community.
Helene would love to see more women trail builders. “Everyone has something to contribute to the trails they use. It isn’t all about power and smashing rocks. There is a lot of joy in sculpting fun turns and features, and in making sure our trails look good and ride great.”
Helene’s humility is only matched by her resume. Helene is one of the few women to have raced in pro/elite categories for MTB, Road, Cyclocross, Track, and Gravel cycling. She won multiple amateur national championships in Road, Track, and MTB racing. Helene recently retired after nearly 25 years as a Firefighter/Engineer Paramedic.
