2017 was another banner year for TAMBA with weekly volunteer build days on various trails around Tahoe including the new Angora Ridge, Mule Deer Connector, Corral Trail, Valley View, Tahoe City’s Ocelot and Elevator Shaft, Red House Flume, Incline Flume, and the Bijou Bike Park, plus tree clearing and maintenance on all your other favorite trails!
The new UpperAngora Ridge Trail is open! This one mile trail starts where the Mule Deer Connector ends near the lookout on Angora Lakes Road and connects to theAngora Lakes parking lot. Snow is minimal on Upper Angora Ridge and the subsequent path up to the lakes. Enjoy some awesome views at these spectacular lakes while the road is closed for the season and before the snow gets too deep.
Work on two new trails has begun.
Lower Angora Ridge: This trail will connect Tahoe Mountain Road to the fire roads behind the horse stables near Camp Richardson. Angora Ridge Connector: This trail will connect Lower Angora Ridge Trail to Middle Angora Ridge Trail. Due to private and state property surrounding the terminus of Middle Angora Ridge, we cannot continue Lower Angora Ridge where Middle Angora Ridge ends. Instead we will build a connecting trail on the south side of Tahoe Mountain Rd through Forest Service property to a location where we can safely cross Tahoe Mountain Rd. and continue with Lower Angora Ridge on the immediate north side. Visit our calendar for upcoming trail work dates.
Led by Scott Brown and Bob Ward, the weekday trail team stays under the radar, but quietly accomplishes big things with only a few people. Trail obstructing logs mysteriously disappear?…probably the weekday team. Nasty erosion from the record precip this year quickly mitigated?…yea, the weekday team. Puddles on Railroad Grade drowning you out? Just call the weekday team. We’ve worked on nearly every trail in South Lake that’s not snow covered to improve your riding experience. We’ve cleared around 40 logs, created new trail alignments, and regraded several trails. If you have a day off during the week and want to contribute to improving your riding experience, join our email list or check out the TAMBA calendar for details on where which days we work and where we’ll be.
